THE DEFENDERS Finds Its Showrunners Courtesy of DAREDEVIL

Hell’s Kitchen’s about to get a heck of a lot more interconnected. The Defenders—the NYC neighborhood’s team of heroes—is set to unite the titular characters from Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage in Netflix’s Marvel TV universe. So it makes sense, naturally, that the show would have some familiar faces behind the scenes to help coalesce the small screen equivalent of the Avengers teaming up.

And Matt Murdock, above all, will be pleased to know that his series’ new showrunners—Douglas Petrie (also formerly of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (who’s also written for Orange is the New Black)—are slated to continue their work of bringing justice to the Marvel Universe’s Hell’s Kitchen. And guess what? Oscar-nominee Drew Goddard (who also wrote on Daredevil and some little-known properties like The Martian, Lost, and Alias), will also join the team as an Executive Producer.

The miniseries event Marvel’s The Defenders will star Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, respectively.

“We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring our four street level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco whose work on Marvel’s Daredevil speaks for itself,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb in a statement. “They write and produce not only great action and adventure, but also the heart and touch of humor that’s makes us Marvel. With the inclusion of Drew Goddard, we’ve got a team that’s as formidable as the Defenders themselves.”

Season two of Daredevil (read our recaps here) was widely acclaimed by fans and critics alike, meaning we’re sure that more than a few of you are excited about this new development. Let us know in the comments!

Before we get The Defenders, though, we’re going to get Luke Cage. Check out everything we know about that series in the video below:
