Nerdoween Track Of The Day: ‘Werewolf Bar Mitzvah’ By Tracy Jordan

Happy #Nerdoween everybody! For the whole week leading up to All Hallows’ Eve, I will be bringing you my favorite Halloween music of all time: some goofy, some grating, but definitely all within the realm of “spooky-scary.”

The first #Nerdoween track of the week (and perhaps one of my favorite songs of all time) is 30 Rock’s hebrew-infused hip hop smash hit, “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah,” a novelty party song that once went gold for Tracy Jordan (how did it not go platinum though? That shit was FIRE. That’s “Esh” in Hebrew). That corny synth and horn groove in the background makes the track sound like it would have fit perfectly in the background of Hannukah themed episode of Scooby Doo Where Are You, all the while Tracy delivers bars like a haunted Slick Rick.

One of my favorite parts about this Halloween masterpiece, aside from hearing Tracy Morgan coolly pronounce “Haftarah,” are that the interstices between the verses filled by the admonishments of Donald Glover, who plays the part of a very unenthused cohort, the exact opposite of the hypeman Jordan needs throughout this track. “This Ain’t no ‘Dick In A Box'” Glover tells Tracy. No matter though, I’ll still crank this to full blast.

Let us know what spooky songs you want to hear this week and remember, if you go outside on the sabbath during a full moon, you are taking your life into your own hands
