NEON GENESIS EVANGELION Celebrates 20 Years With New Art Book

If you loved Japanese Anime in the ‘90s, then chances are good that you’re a fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Hideaki Anno and Studio Gainax’s Neon Genesis Evangelion redefined the classic mecha genre and it quickly became one of the most popular Anime series in the world.

2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion’s debut. To celebrate the occasion, GroundWorks has announced that the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV Animation Cels 2015 Edition art book will be released next month in Japan. The 432-page book will include reproductions of animation cels that were used in both the Neon Genesis Evangelion series and the sequel films.

A few of the included Neon Genesis Evangelion character designs have popped up online, including this image of the lead character, Shinji Ikari, the reluctant pilot of Evangelion Unit-01.
