Considering that Sigourney Weave also said she is open to making Blomkamp’s Alien feature, it feels like everything is falling into place.

According to Deadline, Ridley Scott will produce the film and Blomkamp will direct. Sources indicate that there is not yet a script for Prometheus 2 or the new Aliens film.

What’s up, facehuggers? Wanna see some more Xenomorphs up on the big screen? Well, Ripley and the gang might be heading back to a theater near you sooner than you think. Find out who, what, when, where, and why, oh why on today’s Nerdist News!

Join Jessica Chobot as she dissects (or vivisects) some very curious concept art and statements from Chappie director Neill Blomkamp! Plus, we explore what a new Alien film might be, and try to figure out whether the filmmaker might be planning to delete Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection from canon once and for all. Scandalous!

  1. Hylia says:

Joke right? Aliens is not really good… alien 3 and resurrection were awesome.  I would understand that such a bad director would prefer aliens …  please no more shit like pocavatar ><

  2. TJ Shields says:

Totally and completely OK with ditching Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. I’m not ok with the badmouthing of Alien Vs Predators 1&2, but that’s just me.

  3. Whorus says:

To all the haters… if you don’t like the idea of another instalment in the franchise, because reasons. Don’t watch it and don’t waste your time whining about something you wont see.

  4. Wouldn’t not be ok with writing out 3 and 4.

  5. Iain says:

    Hell YES!  Nuff said.

  6. JetpackBlues says:

Neill Blomkamp has become a hack right behind J.J. Abrams.

We don’t need a return of Sigourney Weaver or a zombie-looking Michael Biehn to keep that franchise alive.  Or time travel.  Or having them run around chasing Xenomorphs through the trash dump ghetto of South Africa, or wherever.  A goddamn new idea, good script and talented actors can have at it instead.
And the cloning issue that helps bring them back?  To hell with Joss Whedon for writing that piece of trash script.

Alien was a horror movie, then it turned into an action movie, then a desperate attempt to turn it back into horror, then it became Buffy with a pregnant humanoid Alien, then 2 horrible mash-ups with Predators… gah!
Don’t let Blomkamp anywhere near it.  And if we find out he’s in talks with Damon Lindelof to script it?  I’d rather drink Alien blood then see it.
Neill should be admired for one thing – good artwork that got the Internet all a-buzz, not the ‘idea’ behind it.

  7. subwoofer says:

Reboot the series or give me more colonial marines.

  8. RedwoodCoast says:

Yes. Deny “Alien 3”.  Maybe. Deny: Alien: Resurrection, or treat it like a series of hallucinations while Ripley is being chemically tortured.

The unstoppable xenomorph(s) doesn’t hold much story telling interest.
I think an Alien story line only interests me if the human beings are out to utilize the xenomorphs against each other or other beings in sinister ways.

  9. Kevin Haverty says:

The photos Neil posted looked amazing, I would love to see his take on the series!!  Especially would be great to see Hicks and Ripley kicking ass again.

  10. jd says:

loved alien, aliens, and alien 3… Please don’t make anymore… I might die if I found out there were indeed more and were bad or included characters that were killed off… or if the guy that did Halo in south africa was going to make a sequel.

  11. Leon says:

Alien 3 and Resurrection are just bad hypersleep dreams. Doesn’t everyone know this?

  12. Michael Sacal says:

Alien Resurrection introduced the notion of cloning. They don’t need to ignore the last two movies, but merely use them as starting points

Clones ARE people, they are just as valid as those born from women (just watch the second season of Young Justice or read the 90’s Superboy comic to see that), so don’t say that clones are fake or don’t count, or whatever.

  13. Robbery says:

Yes to more Alien movies.  No to more Ripley.  moveon.org

  14. Chris says:

District 9 was great, Elysium was decent, Chappie could go either way or be really bad. His Alien could be fantastic

  15. larry says:

I would love more Alien movies but keep that douch bag away from them he has not made a single good movie.

  16. Damon says:

I would like to see his take on the Alien Franchise.
