From being confirmed as the next Oscars host, to writing an autobiography and getting his own variety show on NBC, things have been rather hectic lately for everyoneâs favorite actor, Neil Patrick Harris. Of course, thatâs totally fine with us because one can never have too much NPH â regardless of the form he takes. However, in todayâs Harris alert, we learn thereâs one form heâll be taking that we’ve been waiting for, and we have to thank Ryan Murphy for it.
According to TVLine, Harris will be appearing in the final two episodes of American Horror Story: Freak Show as a âchameleon salesman,â and in addition to that, Harrisâ real life husband, David Burtka, will also be making an appearance in the season finale for a storyline that will involve Jessica Langeâs Elsa Mars. When TVLine spoke with showrunner Ryan Murphy about the part, he shared, â[Harris] had very specific ideas for what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so weâre working on melding those.â
Many will recall this isnât the first time Murphy and Harris have worked together for it was back during the first season of Glee when the then How I Met Your Mother star appeared in the episode âDream On.â That was an episode that was directed by none other than Avengers: Age of Ultron head-honcho, Joss Whedon (and letâs not forget that episode also landed Harris an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series). Harris also also mentioned in the past that he was very nearly in the first season of American Horror Story, and that he’d love to be on the show in some capacity. Looks like we’re all getting what we wanted!
That’s not the only AHS news we have for you, though. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that series alum Lily Rabe will also be appearing on the show later this season, and even better, she’ll be reprising her role of Sister Mary Eunice from American Horror Story: Asylum. According to the report, Mary will serve as the bridge that brings Freak Show‘s other Asylum star, Pepper, from where she is now to where she ends up in Asylum. Rabe’s appearance is scheduled for the 10th episode, which will also be the season’s winter finale.
