Nerds! Prepare to have your heartstrings pulled so hard it hurts!
The Get Togethers, a brand spankin’ new indie rock/pop group from Nashville, have been enveloping me with warmfuzzies. Their debut album, Home Is In Houston, was released last month, led by this single, “June”. The song alone is super great and super fun and super lovable. BUT, the superiest (?) thing about it is their superhero themed music video that may knock on a little door called nostalgia.
The video depicts a kid who’s dealing with bullies. Now, I never had my pants ripped from my legs by a gang of 9 year old nitwits, but a girl did once call me a “C U Next Tuesday” in front of a boy I had a crush on in the 8th grade. But that’s neither here nor there.
Our hero gets lost in comic books and decides to “kick-ass” himself. He confronts the bullies and loses the battle — but when the girl he likes is nice to him, he wins the war, proving that he really can fly.
Take a minute. Brighten your day.
