Remember how upsetting it was when Death From Above 1979 broke up two years after releasing their only album, the bone-rattling 2004 debut, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine? Sure, we got to listen to some noisy/aggro EDM by MSTRKRFT for a few years after the band had called it quits, but it just wasn’t the same. In short, it was a bummer, man.
Well, be bummed no longer friends!; Death From Above 1979 are united once again and have announced a new album and tour dates in addition to releasing today’s thrashy yet perfectly danceable new single “Trainwreck 1979.” Admittedly, the track is little less angular than many of the tracks on their first album, but it still manages to nimbly navigate that dance-punk genre that they owned for a brief moment in the early aughts.
In any case, I am really looking forward to the duo’s new album, The Physical World, which will be out September 9 via Last Gang Records. Check out the tracklist and upcoming tour dates below the song.
