Music Geek Track of the Day: Hodor’s First Single Will Make You Hodor

Hodor is the moral compass of Game Of Thrones. Without his Hodorness Hodoring around, season five went completely off the Hodor and now all the Hodors are Hodor. Sigh.

But in all seriousness, it looks like Kristian Nairn took his season-long hiatus from everyone’s favorite HBO show very seriously, honing his production skills to channel his famously raucous Rave of Thrones live show into his first proper single. “Up” is a dancefloor-ready jam that sounds like a commercial House track, but in a really promising way. I imagine Nairn’s strategy here is to release a fun track that can stand on it’s own outside the novelty of well, DJ Hodor. If he can prove himself a capable producer that is conversant with mainstream trends, perhaps he will have a little more liberty to ultimately branch out and experiment further down the road. None of this is to say that the Irish actor did a bad job on “Up”. To be honest, I am really impressed; I just hope that as he puts out more material, people will be able to discern Hodor from from Nairn from every other House DJ. But for now, you can find me Hodoring on the dance floor.
