When can fans expect a new Grimes album? Unfortunately, not for a while. However, the Canadian artist/musician/producer is teasing new material one song at at time, as heard on “Entropy,” which debuted during Sunday’s episode of Girls.
Webster’s defines “entropy” as “lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder,” which is oddly appropriate since Grimes scrapped her last album because it was too depressing and she didn’t want to perform the sad songs live.
Though a few songs exist from the lost LP — including “Go” and “REALiTi” — Claire Boucher (aka Grimes) has given no indication when fans can expect another full-length album.
In the meantime, “Entropy” should tide people over.
The song marks yet another musical collaboration between the avant-garde singer and Bleachers. Perhaps frontman Jack Antonoff is returning the favor after Grimes loaned her vocal stylings to the song “Take Me Away,” off the band’s debut album Strange Desire.
Before anyone walks away thinking Grimes is too busy being a Sad Sally to put out an album, let’s clear some things up: Just because the singer went through a dark period, that doesn’t mean she’s a dark person.
According to a recent post on her Tumblr, here’s the real deal: “I throw out music all the time, i have almost 1000 gigs of unreleased music on my hard drive. I just want the next album to be as good as possible. Go was never on the album anyway, it is a collaboration with a close friend that was released for fans as a âThank youâ for waiting since my album was being delayed.”
There you have it, folks.

As for Bleachers, Antonoff & Co. are currently melting faces across the country. For a full list of upcoming tour dates, check out the band’s site.
