Move over, Britney Spears, because there’s a “Stronger” new song that’s about to get the party started.
Said dance anthem comes courtesy of electronica outfit Clean Bandit, who happened to score a Best Dance Recording Award at this year’s Grammys for their song “Rather Be.”
For the “Stronger” music video, the band teamed up with Microsoft and shot the entire thing on Lumia phones. (50 of them, to be exact.) The clip stars a saucy older gentleman who can’t wait to attack the day with his fancy fluorescent vest and equally impressive dance moves.
The song itself is reminiscent of retro dance anthems from the early ’90s, like Snap’s “The Power” and Technotronic’s “Move This.” Remember those? If not, they are DEFINITELY worth a listen.
The members of Clean Bandit pop up throughout the video, even if they allow Mr. Bus Driver to take over lip-dub duties. For example, everyoneâincluding guitarist/vocalist Jack Patterson, cellist/vocalist Grace Chatto, drummer Luke Patterson and violinist/pianist Milan Neil Amin-Smithâpile into a double-decker bus for an impromptu rave, which totally has us wishing more methods of public transportation would encourage booty shaking instead of booty grazing. (That shiz needs to stop. It’s called personal space, people.)
Apropos of nothing, we’d also love to see Luke Patterson and Chatto have a string-off with the guys from 2CELLO. That would be so bad-ass, don’t you think? Hey, maybe they could even invite Murder By Death‘s Sarah Balliet. This idea just gets better and better <pats self on back>.
Clean Bandit’s latest album, New Eyes, is out now. Check them out when they come to a town near you. A full list of tour dates is available on the band’s site.
