Come one, come all! There’s Movie Morsels to be had and today we’ve cooked up quite a delectable batch of tidbits, odds, and ends for your reading pleasure. From the latest on X-Men: Apocalypse to Jeremy Renner’s thoughts on a Hawkeye solo flick to new Pride and Prejudice and Zombies casting details and beyond, there’s a little something for everyone in today’s edition.
X-Men: Apocalypse
Choo, choo! All aboard the X-Men: Apocalypse hype train! News broke earlier this week that X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer would be back in the director’s chair for Apocalypse, and now there’s some updates about what to expect from the film itself. The 1980s-set film will reportedly feature a “young Cyclops, Storm, Jean, and others”, a fact that was hinted at by Singer this past spring. Unless they want to waste millions of dollars digitally youth-anizing James Marsden, Halle Berry, and Famke Janssen, it’s more than likely they’ll be recast. Lupita Nyong’o as Storm, anyone? The film comes out on May 27, 2016 and whether or not it features recast, younger versions of some of our favorite heroes, it damn well better give us a peek at Channing Tatum’s Gambit and feature Mohawk Storm. Hawkeye
Anyone who has read Matt Fraction and David Aja’s run on Hawkeye or accidentally purchased a Groupon for archery lessons at 3AM will agree: Hawkeye would make for one hell of a standalone Marvel movie. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees, and the latest detractor is Hawkeye himself: Jeremy Renner. While promoting his new film Kill the Messenger, Renner fielded a question about a Hawkeye solo flick and had this to say:
“I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like Cap 3.â€
C’mon, Hawkguy! You’re better than that. Believe in yourself, then we’ll believe in you too. [MTV]
Fast & Furious 7
Before he was Groot, Vin Diesel was burly street racer Dominic Toretto, and come April 3, 2015, he’ll be buckling up once more for Fast & Furious 7. The film was delayed after Paul Walker’s tragic passing, but today we got a look at some new images and a description of the trailer from Diesel himself:

I must also say, that it was emotional and bittersweet… we all went above and beyond to make Pablo proud, but man, I wish he could see what we have created and just how far we have come.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies lurches ever closer to theaters with a distribution deal from Screen Gems, a former Doctor Who, and two new additions from House Lannister: Lena Headey and Charles Dance. They’ll be joining Lily James, Sam Riley, Bella Heathcoate, Matt Smith, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, and Suki Waterhouse in the zombie-filled Austenpocalypse. No release date yet, but we’ve waited this long, so what’s a few more months? [Deadline]
Taken 3
Or should I say Tak3n? I should because that is literally what the third film in Liam Neeson’s “My family keeps getting kidnapped” trilogy is called. Except this time, despite the title, it looks like no one is getting taken. Neeson shed some light on the film’s plot in a recent interview:
“I have to go on the run, I’ll put it that way, from the not-so-lawful types and the lawful authorities. Bryan Mills served his country faithfully, but now even they are after him. They must not like me.”
We also got our first look at the film in these new images, which showcase Forrest Whitaker as a law enforcement agent hot on Mills’ tail. [ScreenCrush]
Ouija
It’s fitting that a character in the Ouija trailer utters  “I don’t think this is a good idea” because I’m sure that’s what most audiences were thinking when they heard the classic board game was getting transformed into a feature film. Still, I’m hoping for some good old-fashioned spooky fun, and this trailer might just deliver. [Slashfilm]
The Tale of Princess Kaguya

There were years when, as a kid, I wrote the screenplays for the X-men/Avengers movies. I could not be more excited that Marvel is cleaning up with just about every movie that’s released – it makes my inner child ecstatic.
Yeah, you know who ELSE doesn’t think Hawkeye should have a stand alone movie? Matt Fraction and David Aja. They’ve been asked about it before and they think there are other heroes (*coughCarolDanverscough*) that would be much better suited for a solo film.
Would love it if people stopped bringing up Lupita Nyong’o as the favorite to play Storm. There’s plenty of other amazing african-american actresses out there. I for one would be incredibly unhappy if she was cast. So everyone just stop.
Well, of course we don’t need a Hawkeye solo movie yet (or *gasp* at all). However, I do think a Black Widow standalone that features Hawkeye and delves into their past together would make a great film. But that film needs to be a Johannsen vehicle, not a Renner show.
