Avengers: Age of Ultron

Want a ton of great shots of the Avengers’ costumes in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Toy-People.com has oodles of fine photos of the upcoming Hot Toys figures based on the film, taken at the recent Toy Soul 2014 convention. Since the Hong Kong-based company is widely known for having the most accurate likenesses of most any toy manufacturer, if anyone knows what Cap, Thor, Widow, Hawkeye, and ol’ Shellhead will be wearing in Age of Ultron, they do! The Interview

As much as North Korea has tried to kill it, The Interview is the film that refuses to die. Sony lawyer David Boies appeared on yesterday’s Meet the Press and announced that, while the film is still not hitting theaters on December 25th as was originally planned, The Interview “will be distributed” and that “Sony only delayed” its release. Sony CEO Michael Lynton said on Friday that the company is “actively surveying alternatives” for distribution. Referring to President Obama’s recent remarks in which he said it was a mistake for Sony to cancel the film’s theatrical release, Boies commented, “I think that what we have to do is use the president’s recognition of the importance of this issue as a rallying cry, so that all Americans can unite against what is really a threat to our national security. If state-sponsored criminal acts like this can be directed against Sony, it can be directed against anybody.”

True Story

Another James Franco film (or, if you’re President Obama, a “James Flacco” film) is making its debut at next month’s Sundance Film Festival. True Story sees Franco reteam with his This Is the End co-star Jonah Hill as he plays real-life murderer Christian Longo, who assumed the identity of New York Times journalist Michael Finkle (played by Hill). Fox Searchlight has just released a trailer for the film. True Story opens on April 10, 2015. Directed by Rupert Gold, it co-stars Felicity Jones, Gretchen Mol and Ethan Suplee.

Kill Me Three Times

Remember how Edgar Wright’s The World’s End saw Simon Pegg’s character evolve from a quasi-bad-ass into a legitimate bad-ass warrior? The red-band trailer for Pegg’s next film Kill Me Three Times has just landed, and it looks like it could be described as a spiritual sequel to that post-apocalyptic comedy. Pegg plays a hot-tempered hit man tasked with killing Alice Braga, who finds out he’s not the only assassin in town. Kill Me Three Times, co-starring Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire), Teresa Palmer (Take Me Home Tonight), and Luke Hemsworth (yes, there’s yet another one), opens on April 10, 2015.

The Taking of Tiger Mountain

What’s that? You’re in the mood for ANOTHER trailer? Okay, far be it from me to deny you anything this holiday season. We’ve got out first look at Tsui Hark’s next epic. And it seems the director of the Once Upon a Time in China trilogy, and the producer of The Killer, hasn’t yet lost his touch. The Taking of Tiger Mountain, based on the famed historical adventure novel by Qu Bo and starring Tony Leung Ka-fai, Lin Gengxin, and Zhang Hanyu, opens in limited release on January 2nd.

And the game of musical chairs that is the Steve Jobs biopic continues… You’ll recall that Christian Bale stepped out of the title role in Jobs and that Michael Fassbender stepped in. Now after Natalie Portman’s exit from the project, Kate Winslet appears likely to sign on. The Oscar winner has entered negotiations to star in as-yet-unannounced role in the Danny Boyle-directed, Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama. Winslet will next appear in March’s Divergent sequel, Insurgent.
