Movie Morsels: Stephen Lang REALLY Wants to Play Cable in DEADPOOL 2

If your Valentine’s Day wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (though if you saw Deadpool how couldn’t it have been?), then sit back, relax, and enjoy what is hopefully a day off for you. In today’s Movie Morsels we’ve already got news on the Deadpool sequel, along with the latest on Zootopia, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, and more!

Deadpool 2

Avatar star Stephen Lang REALLY wants to play time-traveling mutant Cable in Deadpool 2. So much so that the actor took to twitter to post a pic of himself already getting in shape for the role. Will this story have a happy ending for Stephen? Or will it go the way of Sean Young dressing up as Catwoman and sneaking onto the Warner Brothers lot way back when? Stay tuned!

And if you haven’t seen Deadpool yet, rest assured it confirms Cable’s presence in the inevitable (hello, 150 million dollar opening weekend!) sequel.

Zootopia

Dogs and cats living together? Please. Zootopia has every kind of imaginable mammal cohabitating in its titular town. So it makes perfect sense that there’s a special Valentine’s Day greeting from Disney celebrating its next animated epic as well as yesterday’s holiday…

The Boss

After Spy, Melissa McCarthy can do no wrong in my book. So whether or not her next comedy The Boss (no, it’s not a documentary about Bruce Springsteen), in which she plays a former insider trader, lives up to its predecessor, you can count on my butt being in a theater seat come opening night. Here’s the film’s new red band trailer, in which the expletives fly fast and furiously. McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone directs and Kristen Bell, Peter Dinklage, Annie Mumolo, Tyler Labine, Margo Martindale and Kathy Bates co-star in the April 8 release.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

xXx

Sorry, Jet Li fans. But it looks like the martial arts superstar won’t appear in Vin Diesel’s xXx: The Return of Xander Cage after all. And it looks like Donnie Yen has been tapped to replace him. Li “has chosen to exit the project for as-yet officially undisclosed reasons.” Samuel Jackson, Tony Jaa, Deepika Padukone, and Toni Collette remain.

Fifty Shades Darker

Fifty Shades

Finally today… Casting continues on the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, with The Knick’s Eric Johnson stepping in as Christian Grey’s rival for the affections of one Anastasia Steele. James Foley helms Fifty Shades Darker, which again stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, joined this time by Kim Basinger and Bella Heathcote. The film bows on Febraury 10, 2017.
