If you can’t think of anything to be thankful for this week, Disney and J.J. Abrams may soon give you something. Slashfilm reports they have heard from “very good sources,” that the long-awaited trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens “will be shown in a limited number of theaters during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.” Slashfilm’s Peter Sciretta claims, “I know that there will be a limited amount of theaters participating in the ‘preview.’ I have not confirmed any more details other than that. Of course, Lucasfilm and Disney will never address Star Wars rumors so there is no official confirmation from the studio, but my sources seemed very sure.” Fingers crossed.

James Bond 24

Christoph Waltz

We recently reported that Christoph Waltz is rumored to star as the villain in the next James Bond film, starring returning 007 Daniel Craig. Now we hear that Waltz may star as THE James Bond nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the arch-villain who battled 007 in classics like You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and who was spoofed so unforgettably in Mike Myers’ Austin Powers baddie Doctor Evil. “‘Christoph Waltz is playing Blofeld in the next Bond film,’ an unnamed source told Daily Mail. ‘The tone of the 007 films has changed significantly in recent years and the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007.’ Sources also say that ‘the new Blofeld will be just as sinister as earlier incarnations but will be more sophisticated and less “campy”.’ Waltz’s involvement in the film will be confirmed in a press conference early next month, but the site says that Eon Productions will announce his role as ski instructor Franz Oberhauser to cover up Waltz’s actual role.”

Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Brenton Thwaites

Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow just got a new mate for his next voyage. Maleficent and The Giver star Brenton Thwaites is “in final negotiations to co-star opposite Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Thwaites will play a British soldier in the pic.” But that’s not all… Javier Bardem is apparently in talks to sign on as the film’s villain. Jerry Bruckheimer returns to produce the sequel, directed by Kon Tiki helmers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. With pre-production underway in Australia, Pirates 5 will debut in in July 2017.

Get It While You Can

Amy Adams

The Amy Adams-starring Janis Joplin biopic Get It While You Can has just found its director — Dallas Buyers Club‘s Jean-Marc Vallee. The film — set to begin shooting in mid-2015 — has a script by Ron and Theresa Terry, though “Dallas Buyers Club‘s Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack — who were Oscar nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay — are negotiating to rewrite… Adams has been attached to play Joplin and has wanted to do this for several years.”

Far From the Maddening Crowd

The trailer for The Hunt director Thomas Vinterberg’s film adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Far From the Madding Crowd has just arrived online, featuring star Carey Mulligan singing, along with co-star Michael Sheen. The film, due out in 2015, “is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor. This timeless story of Bathsheba’s choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love – as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.”
