Star Wars: Episode VIII

The Force Awakens 6.30.13 PM

Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced that filming has begun on the eighth chapter in what he’s promised will be a never-ending Star Wars saga. During the company’s quarterly earnings call, Iger remarked, “Filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII, the next chapter of the legendary saga, has just commenced and it will be in theaters December 2017. And production of Episode IX, a 2019 release, has also begun.”

In a less official but definitely more fan-friendly manner, actor John Boyega also revealed the cameras have begun rolling, via Twitter…

Boyega further indicated that a buffer Finn will be on display next time around…

Directed by Rian Johnson, the next Star Wars film will co-star Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew.

Zootopia

Hey, wanna watch another clip from Disney’s animated Zootopia? Of course you do! This time, we’ve got an especially entertaining and action-packed look at Officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), as she tries to catch a weaselly culprit in a part of the titular city that for once doesn’t make her feel so small… Directed by Rich Moore and Byron Howard, Zootopia invites us to explore its wildlife on March 4.

Mr. Right

Two of all discerning filmgoers’ favorite actors, Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell, will soon see if even their impressive skills can produce a fresh romantic comedy in the 21st century. In Mr. Right, Kendrick plays a “hyperactive obsessive” weathering a breakup who gives romance a second chance when she meets Rockwell’s renegade hit man. Will love blossom or find itself riddled with bullets? Tim Roth co-stars in the film, arriving in select theaters and on VOD and Digital HD April 8. Here’s the trailer…

The Brothers Grimsby

In The Brothers Grimsby, Sacha Baron Cohen plays a dimwitted Englishman who’s reunited with his long lost brother (played by Mark Strong), only to learn he’s a top MI6 operative. The Louis Leterrier-directed film opens on March 8, but we’ve got its latest raunch-ridden red band trailer ready for your viewing pleasure right now. You’ll never look at firecrackers the same way again…

Revival

Finally today… The hardest-working man in Hollywood, Mr. Samuel L. Jackson, is in talks to star in a film based on Stephen King’s Revival. Jackson would play Charles Jacobs, a preacher who loses his wife and child in an accident, and begins experimenting with electricity to see if there really could be life after death… Josh Boone writes and directs the adaptation. Jackson previously starred in the King movie 1408.
