Movie Morsels: Ryan Reynolds Teases DEADPOOL’s Mask, Will Smith and Margot Robbie Talk SUICIDE SQUAD, Emma Watson’s Chilling REGRESSION Trailer

We’ve got a handful of firsts for you in today’s Movie Morsels, including a teasing look at the mask of Deadpool, the future Deadshot and Harley Quinn talking Suicide Squad on camera for the first time, and the first trailers for the Reese Witherspoon-Sofia Vergara buddy comedy Hot Pursuit and the Ethan Hawke-Emma Watson thriller Regression. All this and more in today’s Movie Morsels!

Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds

We’ve still got a full year to go before Deadpool arrives in theaters, but Ryan Reynolds is already enticing eager audiences. The actor who played the Merc with a Mouth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and will do so again in his (presumably much better) solo film debut has just offered the first glimpse of the mask he will wear as the Marvel favorite on Twitter

Director Tim Miller’s Deadpool debuts on February 12, 2016.

Suicide Squad

While promoting their new crime caper Focus, Will Smith and Margot Robbie had their first video interview about their next project, Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad, in which they’ll star as Deadshot and Harley Quinn respectively when it begins shooting in mid-April with director David Ayer. Amanda Waller’s team of super-villains will make their big screen debut on August 5, 2016.

The Great Wall

Willem Dafoe

After terrific turns in Grand Budapest Hotel and John Wick, Willem Dafoe has signed on to star in The Great Wall, a fantasy film from director Zhang Yimou about the origins of China’s Wonder of the World. Dafoe will star opposite Matt Damon as a European mercenary intent on obtaining gunpowder in the Far East, who finds himself in a war with fantastical creatures. Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull conceived the project with writer Max Brooks. Filming is expected to begin in China in April.

Regression

Ethan Hawke is a detective coming to the aid of Emma Watson — who’s a victim of satanism, sex abuse, or both — in 1990 Minnesota in the dark thriller Regression from director Alejandro Amenábar (The Others). The film’s trailer has just landed online.

Regression opens on August 28th.

Hot Pursuit

As Modern Family fans well know, Sofia Vergara is one of the most underrated comic actors working today, so I’m happy she’s got a vehicle to showcase her comedic skills on the big screen, and with no less a partner than Reese Witherspoon. Hot Pursuit finds the two playing a cop (Witherspoon) and a crime lord’s widow (Vergara) chased through Texas with a cadre of criminals on their tail. Hey, it worked when it was called Midnight Run! Warner Bros. releases the film on May 8th. Here’s the new trailer.

Arms and the Dudes

Miles Teller

Speaking of new comedic pairings… Hangover director Todd Phillips has just recruited Fantastic Four star Miles Teller to star opposite Jonah Hill in Arms and the Dudes, based on the true story of David Packouz (Teller), a Miami massage therapist who teamed up with con artist Efraim Diveroli (Hill) to sell three hundred million dollars worth of outdated Chinese weapons to Afghanistan.

Based on Hancock and I am Legend, I think Will Smith will make a fine Floyd Lawton 😀

Typo here – Will Smith is going to be DeadSHOT not DeadPOOL in Suicide Squad

Small mistake but Will Smith is playing Deadshot not Deadpool simple mix up.
