Movie Morsels: New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Clip Reintroduces Michael Fassbender’s Magneto

Everybody gonna see The Nice Guys this weekend? I know I am. Because word on the streets is that director Shane Black’s return to the buddy caper comedy genre rocks. But since we always like to keep one eye on the future, today’s Movie Morsels has goodies from some of this summer’s other eagerly awaited cinematic experiences, including a new clip from X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest word on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, a new Independence Day: Resurgence featurette, and a whole lot more!

X-Men: Apocalypse

Did you know Michael Fassbender plays Magneto in X-Men: Apocalypse? Did you know Magneto is the mutant master of magnetism? Did you know that being the mutant master of magnetism means Magneto has total control over the Earth’s metals? Did you you know Magneto has something of a temper? Well, if for some crazy reason you didn’t, you sure will after watching the following clip from director Bryan Singer’s fourth X-Men film, in which good ol’ Fassy reintroduces his character in his own inimitable style…

In other X-Men: Apocalypse news… In a new interview, star Jennifer Lawrence talks to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of returning for more mutant mayhem now that her contract to play Mystique is up.

“Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking,” says the actress. “Like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back, if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are.”

“I would love to come back,” adds Lawrence. “I love the fans and I love the character. But then you realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Krang-TMNT-2-032516

With the July 13 release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows fast approaching, the film has replaced actor Fred Armisen as the voice of Krang, due to scheduling issues, with Brad Garrett. Best known for his role in Everybody Loves Raymond, Garrett has also done tons of voice work, including Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Ratatouille. So I’ve little doubt he’ll have no trouble getting in touch with his inner alien overlord.

Sausage Party

Featuring the voices of Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek, Sausage Party will land on August 12.

The Purge: Election Year

What’s that? You want another trailer. Okay, fine. The Purge: Election Year looks just a little darker than Sausage Party, but horror fans are likely to enjoy this third entry in writer-director James DeMonaco’s hit series. In the July 1 release, the franchise takes a decidedly political turn…

Independence Day: Resurgence

Roland Emmerich’s looong-awaited sequel to his 1996 blockbuster will be here on June 24, just in time for the Fourth of July. To help get you stoked for Independence Day: Resurgence, here’s the latest TV spot featuring Jeff Goldblum and company as they prepare for round two in their 21st century war of the worlds…

The Janson Directive

Dwayne Johnson

Finally today, Baywatch star Dwayne Johnson (pictured above in his Fast & Furious role) is set to help Universal launch a new shared universe of movies set in the world of Robert Ludlum’s acclaimed espionage novels. First up is The Janson Directive, written by James Vanderbilt and based on a story by Akiva Goldsman. (Yes, the Batman and Robin screenwriter.) The Parsifal Mosaic, The Sigma Protocol, and Covert One are Ludlum’s novels currently in various stages of development at Universal, all of which will be brought together in this initiative.
