Movie Morsels: New SUICIDE SQUAD TV Promos Shed the Spotlight on Harley Quinn

There’s just no two ways around this, folks—today’s Movie Morsels is a Margot Robbie special! We’ve got two new TV spots for the actress’ hugely anticipated turn as Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad, along with news on Robbie’s next two film projects. Plus, a new clip from The Shallows and an update on Beverly Hills Cop 4!

Suicide Squad

The Joker is indeed wild in the latest promos for the supervillain team-up we’ve all been waiting for. Jared Leto, Will Smith, and of course the ever effervescent Margot Robbie as fan-favorite Harley Quinn are all in especially fine form in the following two new TV spots, both of which only fan the flames of my anticipation of this Warner Bros. adaptation of the DC comic book title. Enjoy!

Beverly Hills Cop 4

Not one but two filmmakers have signed on to direct the better-late-than-never fourth entry in Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop franchise: the indie Belgian duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Will they find a way to imbue the sequel with the spark that make the 1984 original a hit? One thing’s for sure—it can’t be as bad as Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3. Er, can it? Production is set to start by next year.

The Shallows

If you like what you’ve seen so far of the thriller The Shallows, a.k.a. That Movie in which Blake Lively Battles Sharks, then you’ll want to check out the film’s latest clip, in which the film’s surfer heroine first swims out to sea. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, The Shallows will try to take a bite out of the summer box office when it opens on June 29.

Margot Robbie

For someone with a history as checkered as hers, former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding has been pretty damn fortunate when it comes to who plays her in movies. After inspiring Big Bang Theory star Melissa Rauch’s parodic performance in The Bronze, Harding will next be played by none other than It Girl Margot Robbie (pictured above in The Wolf of Wall Street) in I, Tonya, a dramatic adaptation of the skater’s life. Robbie will also produce the film, which has just signed Lars and the Real Girl‘s Craig Gillespie as director.

Goodbye Christopher Robin

Finally today, our third Margot Robbie-related story… We finally have confirmation that Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson (pictured above in Ex Machina) will star in Goodbye Christopher Robin, a film about the life of Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne (to be played Gleeson), his wife Delphine (Robbie), and his son Christopher Robin, who inspired Pooh’s human friend of the same name. Simon Curtis directs this Fox Searchlight release.
