The Martian

Matt Damon’s lone astronaut may be stranded on Mars, but he’s still very much alive. That’s the takeaway message in a new promo for Ridley Scott’s The Martian, opening on October 2 and co-starring Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, and Donald Glover.

Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad may be comprised entirely of bad guys, but they’re not incapable of doing some good deeds, as evidenced by the cast visiting a little girl’s lemonade stand in this story that aired on Canada’s CTV News. In it, we receive word that the film’s principal photography has finally wrapped in Toronto. Director David Ayers’ Suicide Squad — starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, and Viola Davis — accepts its first big screen assignment on August 5, 2016 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.

Wondering what ever happened to Vin Diesel’s third big-screen franchise (after Fast & Furious and Riddick)? Diesel himself has just announced via Instagram that the third film in the XXX series will at long last begin shooting in December.

Sicario

After watching Edge of Tomorrow, I’m fully primed to see more of Emily Blunt in heavily armed combat, and the latest clip from Sicario has me more stoked than ever. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and co-starring Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Jon Bernthal, the crime thriller opens in limited release on September 18, and goes wide a week later on September 25.

Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Rebel Wilson, and J. K.
