Burying the Ex
Director Joe Dante appears to be back in his horror comedy wheelhouse with Burying the Ex, starring Star Trek‘s Anton Yelchin as a young man whose overbearing girlfriend (played by Twilight‘s Ashley Greene) dies in a car accident, then comes back as a zombie to terrorize him and his new girlfriend (played by True Detective‘s Alexandra Daddario). The film arrives on June 19th from Image. Here’s its international trailer.
Snowden
Open Road Pictures has just released a new photo from Oliver Stones’ Edward Snowden biopic Snowden, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the famed NSA whistle-blower. It offers us our first look at Divergent star Shailene Woodley in the film, which also stars Nicolas Cage, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Olyphant, Zachary Quinto, and Melissa Leo. Based on The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the Worldâs Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena, Snowden lands on December 25th.
Stephanie
Blumhouse has been busier than ever these days, as the horror outfit’s new trailers for Insidious: Chapter 3 and Sinister 2 prove. But Blumhouse is also busy with original, non-franchise films, like Stephanie. Sons of Anarchy star Kenneth Choi has just joined the project, directed by Winter’s Tale helmer Akiva Goldsman. Co-starring Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s Frank Grillo, Shree Crooks and Fringe‘s Anna Torv, the film “centers on a young girl named Stephanie who is abandoned by her parents, [and] forced to survive on peanut butter and conversations with her toy turtle. When her parents return to claim their daughter, they find dark supernatural forces are wreaking havoc, with Stephanie at the center of the turmoil.” Kids have been at the center of Paranormal Activity and Blumhouse’s other hit series, so perhaps Stephanie will follow suit.
