The week’s almost over, ladies and gents. So start gearing up for a beautiful autumn weekend with some casting news for X-Men: Apocalypse and Tina Fey’s The Taliban Shuffle, as well as a first official look at Johnny Depp’s Wolf character in Disney’s musical adaptation Into the Woods, a profanity-laced red-band trailer for Mark Wahlberg’s The Gambler, two — count em’, two — new Interstellar TV spots and more!

X-Men: Apocalypse

With all the excitement surrounding our first look at Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s Quicksilver in the film’s just-released trailer, let’s not forget that X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s take on the mutant speedster (as played by Evan Peters) hit the big screen first. Now we have word that Peters’ scene-stealing scamp will definitely be back in director Bryan Singer’s 2016 follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse. Second-unit director Brian Smrz says he’d love to see a Quicksilver solo film: “We talked about Quicksilver before, I’d love to do Quicksilver as a solo film because there’s a lot to enjoy with that character.” [Slashfilm]

Interstellar

Yes, we’ve got more fresh Interstellar videos for your enjoyment! Two new TV spots for the Christopher Nolan science-fiction epic have just arrived online, titled “Next Step” and “Risk”, both of which you can watch below. Interstellar will be released in 70mm IMAX film, 70mm film and 35mm film formats on Wednesday, November 5, two days ahead of its nationwide release. [Coming Soon]

I.Q. 83

Good news, Charlie Kaufman fans — the celebrated Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich screenwriter (pictured above with Sunshine director Michel Gondry and star Kate Winslet) has just been enlisted to do a complete rewrite of the script for I.Q. 83, based on Arthur Herzog’s novel about a post-apocalyptic society that finds its intelligence average lowered dramatically as a result of DNA experiments conducted by Dr. James Healey. Funnyman Steve Carell is expected to star in what becomes “a race against time as the scientist struggles for a cure, even as he feels himself growing dumber. He watches crowds regressing into animal packs and sees the president of the United States try to comfort the masses, only to babble and drool on television.” [Deadline]

The Taliban Shuffle

Margot Robbie showed a flair for comedy in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street; and she may soon have a chance to flex her funny bone once more by starring alongside Tina Fey in The Taliban Shuffle, based on Kim Barker’s autobiographical The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, about her time as a reporter in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Fey’s 30 Rock colleague Robert Carlock is adapting the book, with Fey and Lorne Michaels producing the film. “Robbie is about to wrap production on Warner Bros. Tarzan and was weighing several offers, including this one. She also has an offer for Suicide Squad at Warner Bros., but scheduling must be worked out with Taliban Shuffle before she can commit.” [Variety]

Into the Woods

Director Rob Marshall’s adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning Into the Woods has courted controversy since it was announced that some of the play’s more mature elements would be removed from the film in order to make it kid friendly. Then there was the musical comedy’s infamous music-free trailer. Now the adaptation is further polarizing longtime fans by revealing that its Wolf, played by Johnny Depp, looks like a zoot-suited 1940s jazz musician — as unveiled on one of four Entertainment Weekly magazine covers devoted to the Disney film, all of which can be seen below. Filmgoers can go Into the Woods on Christmas Day, December 25th. [EW]

The Gambler

Finally today, we’ve got the F-bomb laden red-band trailer for The Gambler. Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt and Departed screenwriter William Monahan adapt this loose remake of the 1974 film, about a literature professor — played by Mark Wahlbergh — whose gambling habit gets him in way over his head with a gang of criminals. Brie Larson and Jessica Lange co-star, along with John Goodman, who teaches Wahlberg’s character the true meaning of the words “fuck you” in the video below. The Gambler bows in limited theatrical release on December 19th and goes wide in January. [Screenrant]
