Movie Morsels: Jennifer Lawrence Returns as Mystique in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Clip

Happy Monday, everyone. Time to put away those party clothes and settle in for another work week. But to help the transition go smoothly, we’ve got a few especially tasty bits of cinematic goodness in today’s Movie Morsels; including the latest clips from X-Men: Apocalypse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, photos from the set of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and a whole heckuva lot more!

X-Men: Apocalypse

Despite the lukewarm reviews X-Men: Apocalypse has been receiving from critics, I’m hoping the conclusion of the latest X-trilogy will be at least watchable. (Unlike Brett Ratner’s wretched The Last Stand.) I mean, it does star Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, whose Mystique takes center stage in the film’s latest clip. Though I am wondering why Mystique feels the need to hide her true mutant form from her old friend Charles Xavier in the following reunion scene. Hmmm…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

And while we’re talking about mutants… Call me crazy, but I’m genuinely looking forward to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Heroes in a Half Shell, as well as for stars Stephen Amell and Megan Fox. In the following clip, we’re introduced to Amell’s hockey-puck-hurling Casey Jones, as he and Fox’s April O’Neil meet-cute in the midst of a Foot Clan attack. C’mon, you can’t deny the on-screen chemistry between these two extremely photogenic stars…

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Hey, speaking of photogenic, some photos of Channing Tatum on the London set of Kingsman: The Golden Circle surfaced on ComingSoon over the weekend. The 21 Jump Street star will take on returning Kingsman actor Taron Egerton in the Matthew Vaughan-directed sequel, playing Egerton’s dapper American counterpart. It looks like Star Wars‘ gain is Godzilla‘s loss… Sadly, like a giant atomic dinosaur returning to the sea from which he emerged, Rogue One director Gareth Edwards has bid adieu to Legendary’s Godzilla 2. According to Deadline, the split was “amicable” and prompted by Edwards’ desire to pursue “his own gestating projects… [which are] smaller in scale than the back-to-back tentpole-size pictures he is directing with the Godzilla launch and then the Star Wars spinoff.” No word yet on who will replace Edwards on the film, scheduled for release on March 22, 2019.

Ocean’s Eleven

Jennifer Lawrence

While some may question the need to reboot the barely-a-decade-old Ocean’s Eleven franchise, the gender-swapped take that’s in development sounds fresh enough to warrant interest. Especially now that Hollywood golden girl Jennifer Lawrence (yes, her again; pictured above in last year’s Joy) is in talks to co-star alongside the always watchable Sandra Bullock.

The Conjuring 2

Finally today… Warner Bros. has released a brand-spanking-new featurette taking viewers behind the scenes of director James Wan’s upcoming UK-set The Conjuring 2. Included in the video below are interviews with Wan, the film’s stars, and members of the real Enfield family, whose experiences are chronicled in this sequel to Wan’s original horror hit. The featurette also spotlights paranormal investigator Lorraine Newman, played by Vera Farmiga in the original Conjuring as well as the follow-up, landing on June 10…
