Welcome back to your work week, Morselers. Let’s get this Monday started with the latest casting news on Marvel’s much-anticipated Spider-Man Homecoming! We’ve also the latest on The Mummy reboot, The New Mutants, Ratchet and Clank, and more!
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Yes, the Spider-Man Homecoming casting news continues! Hot on the heels of Grand Budapest Hotel star Tony Revolori’s casting as Peter Parker’s friend Manuel in the character’s first Marvel Studios solo outing, One Life to Live star Laura Harrier has also been cast — in a “significant role”. Since nineteen-year-old Zendaya has also been cast, I guess this begs the question — which actress is the film’s leading lady? One thing’s for sure, with Marisa Tomei playing Aunt May, the average age of all of the Jon Watts-directed film’s cast members thus far is considerably less than that of previous Spider-Man movies. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton is still in talks to play the film’s villain. Huzzah!

The Mummy
Joining Tom Cruise in Alex Kurtzman’s upcoming reboot of Universal’s Mummy film franchise is… American Crime Story star Courtney B. Vance. Vance made a huge splash recently in the series’ The People v. O.J. Simpson as attorney as Johnnie Cochran. The Mummy will see him starring alongside Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson in a film designed to launch a new shared universe of Universal Monster movies.

The New Mutants
With The Fault in Our Stars, Josh Boone demonstrated a high level of skill in directing young actors. Which should serve him well when he takes on Fox’s adaptation of Marvel’s beloved 1980s X-Men spinoff comic book The New Mutants. In answer to those fearing the film was lost in development hell, Boone just announced on Instagram that he’s turned in his second draft for producer Simon Kinberg… “Cover of a certain script @knatelee and I turned in last night to @simondavidkinberg #newmutants second draft,” he says.
Untitled Darren Aronofsky Drama
We’ve got ourselves a casting update on director Darren Aronofsky‘s as yet untitled latest drama. My all-time favorite Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer (pictured above in the recent The Family), and The Force Awakens star Domhnall Gleeson are joining Javier Bardem in the project. And Ed Harris and Gleesonâs brother Brian are reportedly in talks to co-star in the Paramount release.
Ratchet and Clank
Finally today we have two new Ratchet and Clank clips for your viewing enjoyment. Based on the PlayStation video-game favorite, the animated epic finds the two titular heroes battling their archenemy, the villainous Chairman Drek. Will the “lombaxâ and his robot partner succeed? With a little help from their friends, the Galactic Rangers, they just might!
