Happy Monday, Morselers. Did everyone see The Nice Guys this weekend? Neighbors 2? The Lobster?! Yup, there’s a lot of stuff at the multiplex these days, and lots more stuff on the way. For proof, you need look no further than today’s Movie Morsels, in which we’ve got your first look at Fast 8‘s Big Bad, a ton of clips from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Now You See Me 2, and more!
Fast 8
Man, after Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron can do NO wrong in my book. Thanks to Furiosa, the days of the actress’s prior genre outings like Aeon Flux and Prometheus are looong gone. So even though all we know about Theron’s character in Universal’s upcoming Fast 8 is that her name is Cipher and she’s apparently way into Metallica, I’m as pumped as I’d be if somebody told me Theron was suddenly returning for a Fury Road sequel… Well, okay, maybe not that pumped, but I’m still making the following first still of Theron in Fast 8 my laptop’s new wallpaper…
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
Call me cra cra, but I’m betting that Paramount’s sequel to its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot will be this summer’s big-budget guilty pleasure movie. The kind of film we’ll pretend to hate and then run off to see on a weekday afternoon when we think our friends won’t be at the theater. I make no effort, however, to hide my love of the always watchable Stephen Amell and Megan Fox, as well as the Heroes in a Half Shell themselves; featured in four new clips from director David Green’s June 3 release…
Now You See Me 2
I’m still waiting to see if new cast additions Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Radcliffe, as well as a change in director with Jon M. Chu, can make me dig Now You See Me 2 more than I did its predecessor. But hey, if you love the last one, maybe the returning Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman will be enough for you. In any case, here are two new clips featuring the all-star cast of this June 10 opener…
Fruit Ninja
Yes, folks, there will be a Fruit Ninja movie. The phenomenally successful mobile app game is set to be adapted by J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, fresh from their recent How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack. Unlike The Angry Birds Movie, Fruit Ninja is expect to be shot in live action, as it depicts a team of warrior swordsmen with an unparalleled hatred of fresh produce.
Nine Lives
Oh, Kevin Spacey, how your career defies expectations. From The Usual Suspects and American Beauty to House of Cards to…Nine Lives? In what sounds an awful lot like this century’s The Shaggy Dog, the actor plays an uptight businessman who gets trapped in the body of a furry feline named Mr. Fuzzypants. Fellow acting enigma Christopher Walken co-stars in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed headscratcher, due out on August 5. Here’s the new trailer…
