Pop quiz, fanboys and fangirls — what film news column has the latest casting news on Fox’s Deadpool and the Chris Hemsworth-starring Snow White an the Huntsman prequel, as well as the full titles for both Steven Spielberg’s next project and Sharknado 3 AND the trailer for the Hailee Steinfeld actioner Barely Lethal? You’re looking right at it!
Deadpool
T.J. Miller has dropped a rather serious hint that he’ll be playing Weasel, the arms-dealing best friend of Deadpool, in the Ryan Reynolds starrer, arriving on February 12, 2016. The comedic actor also implies he’s lost some weight for the role, as befitting his character’s name.
.@BeetleBench @ccstandup It wouldn’t be that I am so motherfucking method that @RealErlich is a tub of arrogance but #Deadpool #WeaselThin

The Huntsman
Three new actors have joined the cast of Snow White and the Huntsman prequel The Huntsman, as dwarves. Joining returning dwarf Nick Frost will be British stars Sheridan Smith, Rob Brydon, and Alexandra Roach. Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain round out the cast, which again stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. Cedric Nicolas-Troyan directs from a script by Frank Darabont. The Huntsman arrives on April 22, 2016.
Bridge of Spies
Steven Spielberg’s upcoming cold war thriller has a title and a composer. DreamWorks’ Bridge of Spies is based on the true story of James Donovan (played by Tom Hanks), a Brooklyn lawyer recruited by the CIA to negotiate the release of a bomber pilot captured behind enemy lines. Composed Thomas Newman will score (don’t worry, Spielberg will again work with his longtime musical collaborator John Williams on his Road Dahl adaptation The BFG).
Sharknado 3
Another film with a pedigree almost as respectable has also just received its title. Sharknado 3 will henceforth be known as Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. Spanning the Eastern Seabord, from DC to Florida, the film stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo, David Hasselhoff, Bo Derek, Ryan Newman, Claudia Shepard, and Jack Griffo; and premieres on Syfy on July 22nd.
