Movie Morsels: Watch Wade Wilson Explain Why DEADPOOL Is “A Love Story”

One holiday passes and a new one awaits.. In today’s Movie Morsels, we’ve got more evidence that Deadpool might be the Valentine’s Day gift you’ve been waiting for. Plus, the latest on Doctor Strange, High-Rise, and the sequel to Creed! Read on, young lovers…

Deadpool

Though Deadpool arrives on Valentine’s Day weekend, the Merc with a Mouth’s story is hardly one of romance… Or is it? During this week’s episode of The Bachelor, Fox aired a new TV spot for the Marvel Comics adaptation, which finds Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in the mood for love. Also, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is looking more and more like this film’s big scene stealer…

Doctor Strange

Hey, speaking of the House of Ideas… On Monday, Marvel released some concept art from its oh-so-highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, featuring the Sorcerer Supreme’s Sanctum Sanctorum. Yesterday, the studio’s co-president, Doctor Strange producer Louis D’Esposito, tweeted the first photo of the set’s iconic window. Just in case Benedict Cumberbatch wasn’t enough to entice you to see the November 4th release, now we’ve got another draw…architecture!

High-Rise

Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of acclaimed author J.G. Ballard’s cult novel High-Rise won praise when it played at last year’s Toronto Film Festival. Since star Tom Hiddleston has yet to deliver a performance that’s anything less than first-rate, you can be sure we’ll be first in line when the British thriller—co-starring Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, and Luke Wilson—makes its U.S. debut later this year. Here’s its intriguing new Mad Men-esque poster…

Creed 2

Creed

There was once a time—a time not so long ago, in fact—when Sylvester Stallone never met a sequel he didn’t like. These days, however, with Oscar buzz amounting for his performance in Creed, Sly is being a bit more selective in the projects he takes on. As such, he’s saying a polite “no” to Rambo V. But Stallone will, rest assured, be back for Creed 2. With Ryan Coogler in talks to helm Marvel’s Black Panther, we wonder if the boxing film move forward without the 29-year-old director. “There’s a diminishing time acceptance of a sequel. Three years is a little much,” says Stallone of the potential wait for Coogler. Stallone also teases the film’s plot: “You’ll have him face a different opponent, which I would say is a more ferocious, big Russian. There’s a lot there.”
