Movie Morsels: Latest on INDY 5, WARCRAFT, Michael Jackson’s Chimp

Happy Monday, morselers! We got lot of goodness awaiting you in today MM, including the latest on Indiana Jones 5, Kingsman 2, Assassin’s Creed, and Warcraft. All this plus the Michael Jackson movie you didn’t know you were waiting for!

Bubbles

Michael Jackson

Not a dream! Not a hoax! Community and Rick and Morty mastermind Dan Harmon dipped his toe in the waters of feature-length stop-motion animation when his Starburns Industries produced last year’s Oscar-nominated Charlie Kaufman-directed headtrip Anomalisa. Now things are about to get even crazier, as Harmon finally moves forward on the long-in-development Bubbles, a biopic about the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, told from the point of view of the late singer’s adorably named pet chimpanzee. I can’t imagine this film being anything less than a must see.

Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones

Oh David Koepp, what is this Caligari-like hold you have on Steven Spielberg? Yes, you scripted the original Jurassic Park. Props for that. But you also scripted The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and *shudder* Indiana Jones and the Kindom of the Crystal Skull. Three of the more infamous titles in the Spielberg catalog. Now the luckiest screenwriter in Hollywood is responsible for turning in the first draft of the as yet untitled fifth Indiana Jones film. I guess this is where we find our if Skull’s many problems really were entirely the fault of George Lucas…or not.

Kingsman: The Secret Service 2

Kingsman

While we all though Edward Holcroft’s caddish character had perished in Kingsman: The Secret Service, it turns out that the English actor will be back for more ultraviolent fun in the film’s sequel. Matthew Vaughn will write and direct the follow-up to his original hit, which is expected to feature Halle Berry and Julianne Moore.

Assassin’s Creed

Will we finally soon get the quality film adaptations of video games that so many of us who suffered through Tomb Raider and Prince of Egypt have long hoped for? Well Assassin’s Creed, for one, is looking better all the time. Here’s the latest pic from the Michael Fassbender-starring epic…

Assassin's Creed

Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson co-star in the December 21 release for director Justin Kurrzel.

Warcraft

And speaking of video game adaptations with first-rate pedigrees… Hot on the heels of the latest trailer for director Duncan Jones’ take on the mega-successful Warcraft franchise comes the film’s latest TV spot. Looks like Zoe Saldana’s Gamora is no longer the only green-skinned badass warrior woman on the big screen…
