Movie Morsels: Check Out the GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot’s Ecto-2

It’s Friday, boys and girls! Before heading out to the theater to catch Deadpool, be sure to dig into today’s Movie Morsels. We’ve got the latest photos from the sets of the Ghostbusters reboot and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as well as some groovy casting news for Alien: Covenant, and more!

Ghostbusters

Few automobiles in American film history are so revered as the 1984 Ghostbusters‘ Ecto-1, a customized 1959 Cadillac that continues to inspire oodles of merchandise and fan art. For this summer’s reboot of the franchise, director Paul Feig is, in addition to a new Ecto-1, introducing an Ecto-2, a motorcycle on which the team’s secretary Kevin (played by Chris Hemsworth) speeds along to offer assistance. Coming Soon recently offered us our first look at Kevin in action, but, unbeknownst to us at the time, the vehicle he was riding was actually the Ecto-2…

Thanks to Sony, we’ve now got our first full, official look at the bike, which features an amusingly low-tech means of storing one’s proton pack, as well as some formidable looking lasers mounted on its handles with duct tape…

Ghostbusters

The whole thing is so DIY that I can’t help but wonder if it was built by Kevin in an effort to provide more value to his employers (played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones). We’ll know for certain when Ghostbusters opens everywhere on July 15.

Alien: Covenant

Danny McBride

Was there a more unlikely name to consider when casting Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel Alien: Covenant than that of Danny McBride? Methinks not. But that doesn’t mean I’m not happy to hear that the Eastbound and Down star will bring his unique charm to the film, co-starring Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston. Hey, maybe The Martian showed Ridley Scott the value that humor can bring to a science-fiction thriller…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

That James Gunn, always keeping us in the loop. The filmmaker shares via Facebook another photo from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, this time revealing the film’s official logo, which seems to employ a little of that way-cool ’80s style font that made Mad Max: Fury Road‘s logo so awesome…

“To quote the great poet David Coverdale,” says Gunn. “‘Here I Go Again.'”

Guardians

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn all return for the sequel, due out on May 5, 2017.

Sing

The folks at Illumination sure have a thing for low-brow humor. Following last year’s Minions, the animation studio’s Sing arrives in theaters on December 21, featuring the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Tori Kelly, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, and Scarlett Johansson. If watching cartoon critters lip-sync to pop tunes is your thing, then by all means enjoy the following five “audition” clips…

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Finally today… We’ve got the latest trailer for Tina Fey’s war comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, co-starring Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, and Billy Bob Thornton. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa direct this adaptation of war correspondent Kim Barker’s The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which features a delightfully snarkier title than its source material…
