Just what does Zack Snyder have in store for the late General Zod in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Today’s Movie Morsels provides a clue. We’ve also got a new video from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, word on Dwayne Johnson and new Spider-Man star Tom Holland’s next films, and more!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Some strange news on the status of General Zod in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has leaked out via the actor who plays him. Michael Shannon has revealed that even though Zod was killed at the end of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (in ridiculously brutal fashion by Superman himself), he’ll be back in the director’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with… flippers for hands?!
âI was in my costume, and I couldnât use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,â the actor told Vulture. âSo I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldnât open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Whereâs Shannon? Where the fuck is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’â Shannon explained that the âcraft-service guy, who doesnât have the best craft service… was actually paying attention to what was going on. He came over and he opened the door for me. Otherwise I would have gotten fired.â
While some are speculating that Zod may transform into Doomsday in the film, I’m hoping that the Kryptonian villain actually evolves into the Penguin. After all, with Man of Steel Snyder proved that he’s willing to do damn near anything to our favorite characters. Batman v Superman, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot, will open in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on March 25, 2016.

X-Men: Apocalypse
We’ve gotten a lot of photos from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse thanks to director Bryan Singer. But today Singer is sharing a rare video from the film’s set. In it, we get a fleeting glimpse at Storm’s Cairo apartment. The next X-sequel debuts on May 27, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, and Ben Hardy.
Jungle Cruise
Samoan Thor strikes again! To Dwayne Johnson’s pile of upcoming projects, which includes the next Journey to the Center of the Earth movie, Furious 8, Shazam!, and the animated Moana, we can now add another title: Jungle Cruise. Yes, in the grand tradition of Pirates of the Caribbean and, er, Tomorrowland, Disney is adapting its popular river safari theme park ride. Focus writers John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are scripting.
Lost City of Z
The man beneath the mask of our next friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be exploring another city before he swings through the steel canyons of New York in the character’s first solo film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Actor Tom Holland is joining Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, and Robert Pattinson in director James Grayâs Lost City of Z, an adaptation of author David Grannâs 2009 account of explorer Percy Fawcett, who disappeared in the 1920s whilst searching for the titular mythical Amazonian city (his story an obvious inspiration for the Charles Muntz character in Up). The film is currently in production in Belfast, and will begin shooting in Columbia in September for a TBD 2016 release date.

The Witch
Finally, in case you missed it yesterday, Director Robert Eggersâ colonial-era The Witch might be the most acclaimed horror film of the year, having won the Directing Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, most of us won’t get to see it until it arrives in theaters early next year. But we can see its new trailer, thanks to the folks at A24.
