Movie Morsels: Alicia Vikander Joins BOURNE IDENTITY 5, New TERMINATOR GENISYS Clip, and More

Those who have seen the chilling Ex Machina (and if you haven’t seen it, then get thee to a theater!) have cause to celebrate today. The scene-stealing Alicia Vikander, the most memorable screen robot to come down the pike in quite some time, has just signed on for the fifth Jason Bourne movie! We’ve also got a new Terminator Genisys clip in today’s Movie Morsels, a behind-the-scenes featurette on Ted 2, a new international trailer for the hilarious Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck, and the first trailer for Kristen Wiig’s Masterminds!

The Bourne Identity 5

Alicia Vikander

Following word that Julia Stiles would be returning to the Bourne universe for the series’ fifth film, featuring fellow vet Matt Damon and directed by the returning Paul Greengrass, we’ve received confirmation that Alicia Vikander will also be in Bourne 5. The Ex Machina actress and newly minted Swedish superstar will not, however, (as was previously believed) be able to fit both Jason Bourne and director Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed (starring Michael Fassbender) into her schedule, so she’s opted out of the latter film. It’s also suspected she’ll have to forego starring with Tom Hanks in the thriller The Circle. Vikander will next be seen in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., out on August 14th.

Ted 2

A new featurette takes viewers behind the scenes of Ted 2, offering them “A Look Inside” the fur, if you will. Writer-director Seth MacFarlane is back as the voice of the foul-mouthed teddy bear, while Mark Wahlberg returns as his thunder buddy. This time, they’re joined by Amanda Seyfried as his weed-loving lawyer, as well as John Slattery and Morgan Freeman. Will marriage ruin Ted? Can the little guy defend his right to procreate in court? Heady questions… Ted 2 opens on June 26th.

Terminator Genisys

Everything old is new again in the latest clip from Terminator Genisys, which returns us to that classic moment from the original Terminator when Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 first arrived in 1984. Director Alan Taylor’s film, the fifth in the Terminator series, arrives on July 1st and co-stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Byung-Hun Lee, and Matt Smith.

Masterminds

The most ironically titled film of the year is the Kristen Wiig-starring Masterminds, based on a real-life North Carolina bank heist that went very, very awry back in the late ’90s. Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, and Jason Sudeikis co-star in the film, which also features Wiig’s fellow Ghostbusters and Saturday Night Live vets Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Directed by Jared Hess, Masterminds debuts on August 19th. Here’s its brand-new trailer…

Trainwreck

And speaking of funny ladies, Universal UK has just released a new international trailer for Amy Schhumer’s Trainwreck, featuring some new footage of the red-hot (and Peabody Award-winning) comedian in her first big-screen vehicle. Directed by Judd Apatow and co-starring Saturday Night Live vets Bill Hader and Vanessa Bayer, Trainwreck pulls into theaters everywhere on July 17th.
