Movie Morsels: A DEADPOOL Interview, NEW MUTANTS Movie, and More

It’s Thursday, folks, which means we’re just a hop, skip, and a jump to the weekend. Today we’ve got several blasts from the past, from a Fugitive sequel to Van Damme’s infamous dance moves. We’ve also got a look at Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest and a brand new Deadpool interview. Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Van Damme Recreates Dance Scene On Conan

It was twenty six years ago that Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career was in the midst of an upswing. With the success of the Mortal-Kombat-inspiring Bloodsport, Van Damme tried to catch lighting in a bottle a second time with Kickboxer. On a recent episode of Conan, the muscles from Brussels proved he’s still got it by recreating the infamous dance scene from Kickboxer, before diving into a little stage fight fun.

New Mutants Taps Fault In Our Stars Director

It seems FOX is not interested in taking a cue from Sony, going into overdrive putting more and more X-Men characters into films. With X-Men Apocalypse, Deadpool, Gambit, and Wolverine 3 all in the works in some way or another, FOX is planning to throw The New Mutants into the mix. It seems that they have also decided to turn to Josh Boone, director of A Fault In Our Stars to co-write and direct the film. Swap teens with cancer for teens with mutant powers and he’s right at home. The movie will also be written by Knate Gwaltney (KIDNAP) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Apocalypse).

First Look at Elle Fanning in The Neon Demon

Director Nicholas Winding Refn is wrapping up filming on his newest movie, The Neon Demon. Little is known about the story of the horror film, but it is apparently based on a modern retelling of the legend of Countess Bathory, a famed female serial killer from the 17th century. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone, and Elle Fanning. An image was released today showcasing Fanning, whose role is described as “an aspiring model who moves to Los Angeles, where her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.” Sounds like L.A., alright.

New Fugitive Movie Coming

22 years after the original film was able to successfully translate the story of a TV show to the big screen, Warner Bros. is looking to make a follow-up to The Fugitive. Christina Hodson (Shut In) has been tapped to pen the script and production seems to be slated for 2016. No word yet if either Harrison Ford or Tommy Lee Jones will return, or if the story will even involve either of them. So far just the name Fugitive seems to be the only solidified piece of the story. As U.S. Marshals proved, though, not even that name is certain.

Into The Grizzly Maze trailer

Into The Grizzly Maze looks like a healthy mix of Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Grizzly Man starring Tom Jane, Billy Bob Thorton, James Marsden, and Piper Perabo. The trailer does a decent job of building tension and the film could turn out decent enough, but the concept feels a little to similar to a SyFy Original movie, and with dialogue like “this isn’t your average bear, it’s a clever one” being thrown around this may end up in a RiffTrax Live show sooner rather than later.

Mario Lopez Visits Deadpool Set… for Real This Time

The Deadpool April Fool’s Day prank to announce their R rating was one of the most talked about moments last month, and now the stars of that viral interview have st down for real. The video is a little light on movie details and seems to have a real obession with Comic Sans font, but it is still cool to see Ryan Reynolds running around in the Deadpool costume sans-mask. It’s evident in this interview that Ryan just can’t turn Deadpool off, and it’s exactly why he got the part. Chimichanga!
