MORTAL KOMBAT-Inspired Beer Coming to the Netherrealm of Your Fridge

“Finish him!

…I mean it, finish it. We have to get going and you’ve been nursing that beer for hours like it’s a babality.”

Get your best Netherrealm and violent video game puns ready, because you’ll be making (and slurring) them after you get your hands on these new Mortal Kombat Xinspired beers.

These three character-themed brews, which we learned about thanks to GameSpot, are the creation of a joint venture between Warner Bros., Global Beverage Traders, and the folks making them at Sound Brewery out of Poulsbo, Washington.

Your choices to do battle against sobriety are a Sub-Zero Imperial Stout, Raiden Imperial Saison, and Scorpion Imperial Stout (even on a liquor shelf, Sub-Zero and Scorpion can’t get away from one another). All of them come available in 22-ounce bomber single bottles.

In their announcement of the beers release, Global Beverage Traders say that the line “boasts bold flavors aimed to match the intensity and excitement of Mortal Kombat X.” Yes, yes, that’s very important, but we are really just here for the beer, so here’s the description they gave for each.

sub-zero-beer

“Refreshingly cooling on a warm day, an Imperial India Pale Ale that’s not all about the hops or the malt but is a whole lot of both fighting it out for your palate’s supremacy. Drink icy for more of the hops or warmer for more malt.” (8.5% alcohol)

raiden-beer
“This amped up Imperial Saison has a blast of hops and CO2 that will hit your tongue with a bang. The aroma jumps out of the glass with its earthly and herbal notes not far behind.” (8% alcohol)

scorpion-beer
“A unique blend for great Imperial Stout brings both fire and ice into your glass. The fiery southwest chilies and cooling Madagascar Vanilla Bean pair nicely with the exotic notes produced by our own yeast strain.” (8% alcohol)

Verdict: Would drink all of them… though with them being all Imperial styles and having higher alcohol contents, it might be best not to do that all in one sitting.

In true Mortal Kombat fashion, there is even a secret code you can use for all of them. It goes “down-down-down-down-down-down-down.” (…Sorry. Couldn’t help it.)

They do say that this is a limited release, so if you want these brews to “get over here,” you might want to order yours now, before some jerk like Shang Tsung absorbs them all.

Which one of these beers do you want to try the most? Tell us who you’d choose in the comments below.
