Even six seasons into its run, The Walking Dead still has what it takes to make the audienceâs collective heart jump at the apparent fate of one of its main characters. (There are no spoilers ahead for last nightâs episode, don’t worry!) You could check out our recap, but youâre probably gonna want to see it for yourself. In the meantime, AMC has released a brief preview scene from next Sundayâs episode of The Walking Dead.
This time, the spotlight falls on Morgan Jones, as portrayed by the great Lennie James. James originated the role all the way back in the pilot episode of The Walking Dead and Morganâs comic book incarnation has a large role in that version of the storyline. Unfortunately, James wasnât available for anything other than a fantastic follow-up guest appearance during the third season.
After catching up with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) at the end of last season, Morgan doesnât necessarily like what his friend has become. Somewhere along the way, Morgan adopted a code against killing humans and became extremely proficient with a bÅ. But Morganâs code has been tested by recent events in Alexandria.
The new clip for next Sundayâs episode sees Morgan uncharacteristically armed with a gun while putting the hurt on some walkers. For that reason alone, it seems like a safe bet that this is a flashback sequence from an earlier time in Morganâs life, after his third season encounter with Rick and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
