Mondo’s GREMLINS Soundtrack Art Changes with Water and Light

Anyone who has ever seen the ’80s classic, Gremlins, should absolutely remember the three rules of the mogwai: don’t expose them to bright lights, don’t get them wet, and don’t feed them after midnight! Mondo knows the rules by heart, and they’ve incorporated two of them into the artwork for its upcoming Gremlins vinyl soundtrack.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news that Mondo and Phantom City Creative have created some very unique artwork for the 2XLP collection of iconic film composer, Jerry Goldsmith‘s original score for Gremlins.  For example, here’s what the gatefold jacket of Stripe looks like in a normal lighting situation. He’s just having a little festive fun before terrorizing the town!

But once you expose the UV sensitive cover to daylight, you’ll see that Stripe has left a few messages on the wall.

The two interior album sleeves are sensitive to water. So, if you wipe a damp cloth over the art, you’ll see Gizmo joined by his evil mogwai brothers, including a pre-transformation Stripe. The second sleeve features Stripe in his final form as he is submerged in water; which may be inspired by a scene from late in the movie. A damp cloth will reveal that the water has given Stripe several clone brothers. You can find those images, and the album’s gatefold spread in the gallery below.

The Gremlins Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available for sale on November 30 at Noon, on MondoTees.com. The price of the album is $35.
