MOCKINGJAY Steps Forward in a Brand New Teaser Trailer

Forget the whitewashed cleanliness of President Snow’s previous chilling and propaganda-filled global addresses, and witness the Mockingjay’s official return with this new teaser trailer for Mockingjay – Part 1. This is our first look at Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) as rebel leader, and what it lacks in an update on brain-washed Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), it more than makes up for in our first glimpses of new characters. Watch the trailer here:

While she’s not addressing the populace of Panem at large, Katniss’s first steps into leadership reveal a rebel stronghold with Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Cressida (Natalie Dormer) following her every move, and a doubtful President Coin behind the scenes. This longer trailer also shows that District 13 may have a PR machine equal to President Snow’s minions. The Mockingjay’s entrance is heralded with awed silence and hopeful devotees before she even opens her mouth to accept her place as their leader. If ever there was a more moving reveal of our story’s savior, we haven’t seen one.

With the November 21st release of Mockingjay – Part 1 still months away, how much more can we see of the rebellion without compromising their mission? Will we get another trailer before long?  We can’t imagine that President Snow won’t use Twitter and Facebook to hold onto his power. He’s probably planning a publicity campaign on Instagram to remind Katniss that he controls those she holds dear.

All we know for sure is that he will be monitoring the airwaves for signs of the Mockingjay.

Citizens, will you be joining the Mockingjay? Tell us in the comments below. But be careful. Snow is watching.

This post has been edited to reflect the correct release date of November 21st.
