Minimalist Original Series STAR TREK Art is Super Groovy

For nearly fifty years now, the original Star Trek television series has inspired fans all over the world to create their own artwork based on the adventures of the Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and the rest of the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Now, an artist by the name of Mark Gonyea has brought his love of classic Trek to life with minimalist images from all 79 episodes. (Well, 80 episodes if you count the original unaired pilot ‘The Cage’. Sorry, I just got super ‘anal-retentive nerd’ there for a second.) This new series of posters, called ‘Minimalist Trek”, will include one image for each episode from all three seasons of the show, each done in minimalist art style.

There’s a poster for each season of the show separately, as well as a limited edition poster featuring all three seasons-worth of episodes together in one image. He’s also included a bonus poster, ’10 Little Red Shirts’, which humorously skewers the life expectancy of the average security officer on any random Star Trek episode. Gonyea has gone the Kickstarter route to help fund the making of these posters, and depending on your pledge, you’ll be able to obtain the poster(s) (or postcard) of your choice.

This Kickstarter ends on September 8th, which just so happens to be the 49th anniversary of the airing of the first ever Star Trek episode ‘The Man Trap.’ I have a strong feeling that’s not a coincidence.
