Michael Rooker Does Yondu Proud with an SDCC Badge That Reads “Mary Poppins”

Warning: This post contains Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 spoilers.

Michael Rooker might have bid a sad farewell to the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy upon the emotional death of his character Yondu, but he went out with one of the most memorable quotes in recent memory.

“I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!” will follow him for the rest of his career (we’ll make sure of it), and in some cases literally. As we’ve learned, the actor’s badge at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con doesn’t read the expected “Michael Rooker.” Instead, it reads “Mary Poppins.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which also featured his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast members Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff, Rooker confirmed that his missing badge for the event does really says Mary Poppins as an homage to arguably the best line of the year.

We don’t blame his handlers for making sure that badge is in safe hands, since everyone at Comic-Con would love to have it for themselves. That line is just too perfect. I mean, Emily Blunt is actually filming a movie as the new Mary Poppins and we still don’t think she’s ever going to come to mind before Rooker when we hear that name.

And this isn’t the only bit of fun Rooker is having with the scene. He was also spotted holding a very special Yondu Poppins-inspired umbrella, in the shape of Yondu’s blue head and pink fin.

We’re going to need that umbrella, y’all.

And the badge too.

Who are some other actors should have a different name on their badge? Tell us what you think in the comments.
