It was only yesterday that the social media landscape was set ablaze by the news of Kojima Productions making a big Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain announcement on Wednesday morning. But the force of nature known as NeoGAF has prevailed once again, and we can officially confirm that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be releasing worldwide on September 1, 2015. The news was originally suppose to break tomorrow, as Kojima Productions had partnered with IGN to make the announcement. But someone’s finger slipped on the publishing button a bit too soon, and the full reveal video leaked its way onto NeoGAF this morning. The video has since been taken down, but we do have crucial screen grab that pretty much shows you all you need to see:
Am I the only one who’s mildly relieved at the news of a fall release date for this game? I was fairly worried that it was going to release within the same window as Batman: Arkham Knight, which would have surely torn me to pieces like Raiden at the beginning of Metal Gear Rising. But luckily, we’ll have months to clean the streets of Gotham City before reassuming the role of Big Boss. Phew!
