Megalyn Echikunwoke’s VIXEN Will Guest Star on ARROW

Earlier this year, Megalyn Echikunwoke voiced the title character on CW Seed’s Vixen animated series that tied into The Flash and Arrow. Next year, Echikunwoke will get the chance to play Vixen in live-action as well!

Echikunwoke is slated to reprise her role as Vixen a.k.a. Mari McCabe in the fifteenth episode of Arrow season 4. Because the Vixen animated series already established her role in The CW’s DC-verse, she can simply appear as herself without another origin story filling in the gaps. Plus, Vixen has already met Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in her own series.

“We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe,” said Arrow co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim.

Like her comic book counterpart, Vixen uses a mystical amulet to channel the powers of the animal kingdom. In the DC Universe, Vixen has headlined her own series and served as a member of the Justice League. Although Vixen has previously appeared in Justice League Unlimited and The Brave and the Bold animated series, Echikunwoke will be the first actress to portray Vixen in live-action.

Echikunwoke is currently a series regular on the upcoming Damien series, which will be a modern day sequel to The Omen. That show may limit Echikunwoke’s availability for future appearances as Vixen on Arrow or The Flash, but there’s always the possibility that she could return for more.

Vixen’s Arrow episode is tentatively scheduled to air on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.
