MEGA MAN Redesigned for 2017 Animated Series

Capcom finally revealed more information regarding the previously announced Mega Man animated series, and gave fans a sneak peek at the redesigned Blue Bomber (pictured above).

First, the series will come from Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Ultimate Spider-Man), and will be distributed by DHX Media and Dentsu Entertainment. So, we can all rest assured that talented people are at the helm of this new venture. It will be launching next year, which happens to coincide with Mega Man‘s 30th anniversary. Feel old yet?

But more importantly, story information has been revealed! The show will follow a young robot named Aki Light from Silicon City who is pretty much normal, aside from having secret protocols included in his programming that turns him into Mega Man. You know, nothing strange there. The show will follow his adventures, as he handles threats to Silicon City, all while attempting to maintain a normal robot life and keep his identity a secret. Again, the team behind the series has produced some great animated shows, so there’s reason for optimism.

As for the new design of everyone’s favorite cannon wielding hero: not all change is bad. Conversely, not all change is good, either. Mega Man’s new look is already getting plenty of hate online, maybe deservedly so, but we need to remember that this is going to target a younger demographic. We must also admit this new look will probably be pretty popular with that audience. Hopefully, the show will still be entertaining for us older Mega Man fans.

Are you guys looking forward to the new show featuring Capcom’s most iconic character? Do the story details intrigue you? How do you feel about the redesign? Do you expect Mighty No. 9‘s show to compete with this series? Blast your thoughts into the comments section below!
