Meet Sabine Wren in the Latest STAR WARS REBELS Short

It’s time to get a closer look at another member of the Star Wars Rebels cast. Lucasfilm and Disney are releasing a series of shorts that were aired at Star Wars Weekends earlier this summer, and while the focus was on Hera and Kanan in the last clip, it’s all about Sabine Wren this week. Voiced by Tiya Sircar (The Internship), Sabine is an artistic Mandalorian who has explosive skills. She likes to blow things up, but more importantly, she likes the destruction to be beautiful.

The newest short, “Art Attack,” tells you a lot about the character. She’s not afraid of Stormtroopers, she’s funny, she’s handy with her paint gun, and she’s loyal to her fellow crew members on Ghost. I also appreciate that she isn’t subtle. She’s trying to create a diversion here, but she doesn’t sneak around like a ninja to do it. Take a look:

Besides giving us a peek at Sabine’s personality and talents, the short shows the Imperial Stormtroopers – at least the ones on this planet – are the very definition of bumbling. They already have terrible aim, and that appears to be a known fact. The troopers also don’t think out of the box. To me, their complacency illustrates how strong the Empire’s presence is in the galaxy. They’re so in control and unquestioned that the Stormtroopers can slack off. There’s no need to be in shipshape form if they’re on top of the food chain.

Sabine reminds me a little of Leia, and I can’t wait to see more of her.

Don’t forget that these shorts contain footage that aren’t part of the regular Rebels episodes. Stay tuned for another one next Monday.

What do you think of Sabine? Head to the comments, and tell us how you feel about the character.
