Spread Good Vibes with Nerdist and McDonald’s for an Epic 24-Hour Event

As the old saying goes, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Well we here at Nerdist not only have plenty of nice things to say, but we perhaps have too many nice things to say. Today, we’ve joined McDonald’s to take nice thoughts one step further by putting them in writing for everyone to see. So what does that mean exactly? For 24 hours straight we’re literally planning to shower the denizens of the Internet in compliments. You read that right – we won’t sleep for an entire lunar cycle in order to spread positivity across the Internet.

To do so, we’ve assembled some of your favorite Nerdist and Geek & Sundry personalities to customize tweets and create positivity across the Twittersphere using the hashtag #SoftServed. Sure, it’s meant to celebrate McDonald’s soft serve, which is made with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, but it’s also an elaborate ploy to devise a way to “soft serve” sweetly worded compliments to total strangers for 24 hours straight.

In order to participate, all you have to do is send a tweet to @McDonalds and use the #SoftServed hashtag. Then our team of expert writers, vibe cultivators, and dessert aficionados will handcraft a tweet designed to aggressively compliment you and start your day off on the right foot. Or the left foot. Whichever foot you prefer, really, just as long as you have a great day.

And to make this deal even sweeter—see what I did there?—you can even get free soft serve! You don’t have to become a melted candle of a person in this summer heat; you can simply go into any participating McDonald’s location on July 16 and use the McDonald’s app to get a Free Vanilla Soft Serve Cone in celebration of National Ice Cream Day. Free soft serve AND free compliments? I don’t know about you, but in my book that’s a win-win.

What do you love most about soft serve? What is the nicest compliment you’ve ever received? Tweet at us and @McDonalds to get that positivity flowing!
