Mattel is Developing a DINO-RIDERS Movie

The past. The future. Dinos. Humans. Lasers. Dino-Riders.

The 1980s animated franchise might be making a comeback, as The Tracking Board reports that Mattel is teaming up with Solipsist Films to develop the prehistoric action cartoon as a feature film. The series debuted in 1988, conceived of by Tyco Toys as an opportunity to sell toys where humans ride on the backs of gun-toting dinosaurs, and it was co-created by Carla Conway and Gerry Conway. Yes, that Gerry Conway, the co-creator of the Punisher comics series. Fourteen episodes were produced, airing as part of the Marvel Action Universe. Might the Dino-Riders join the Avengers and the rest of their Marvel friends in Infinity War? Highly unlikely. But we’re assuming the raptor-jockeys are going to be groomed for a big-budget blockbuster along the lines of another toy-inspired franchise, Transformers.

So what might a modern, live-action Dino-Riders movie look like? Join Jessica Chobot as we discuss the plot of the original animated series and how the dinosaur-chauffeured adventures of Questar and the rest of the Valerians might translate to the silver screen, on today’s Nerdist News!

Thanks for watching today’s episode! Malik has the scoop on when to upgrade to a next-gen console on Nerdist:Play, and the time is now! Let us know in the comments how you think the Dino-Riders should be adapted for the silver screen.
