Can you imagine a world where the Doctor meets the Terminator? Though a mash-up isn’t coming (as far as we know), the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, is reportedly set to join Terminator: Genesis. The final trilogy of Terminator films is in the final stages of being cast by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, and Deadline reports Smith is set to take “a major role that will grow in the second and third films.”
If this turns out to be true, geeks around the world will go wild. It’s fitting that Smith’s next big move in the arena of genre entertainment would be in a time-travel story about cyborgs. He would star alongside the likes of Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), and of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Terminator: Genesis is slated to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
Update:Â Skydance Productions has confirmed that Matt Smith has joined the cast (thanks to reader BK for the tip):
We don’t have a TARDIS, but we do have a Time Lord: we’re pleased to welcome Matt Smith to the cast of #Terminator.

So that’s how Skynet got their time travel technology.
This makes me so damn happy, I can’t believe it!
Of course! A timelord could be just the thing we need to beat skynet once and for all
