Will Doctor Who be returning for a seventh season? Â Is Matt Smith going to be the Doctor? Â All your questions and more, well maybe not more, are answered in Stephen Moffat’s tweet today. Â That should put to rest the Season 7 rumors with no Matt and just four specials. Â Even The Guardian says so!
@Livius
Yes I’m aware of that and it doesn’t work. Last season we got to look forward to a new episode roughly each week. Because of that you got to appreciate a deeper, layered, and more insightful Doctor Who. I was talking about these episodes with my friends and they stood up to repeated viewings.
This season seems rushed, and with only seven episodes they seem rather forgettable because I just want to see what the big midseason finale cliffhanger is.
For a tv show like this, 14 consecutive weeks is the way to go.
Smith could sign up for a Baker length run as far as I’m concerned.
@Magnoliafan The break now is to keep the show evenly spaced out all year. This way we don’t wait 6 months for new episodes.
I also expect a younger River as the next companion.
I’m not surprised. I can see Matt Smith hanging around a while and making the character his own, just like David Tennant did.
I hope it’s 14 consecutive episodes, this upcoming break has really killed my interest in Doctor Who for the time being.
Almost done with series 3, so I’m still in the Tenant era. And then on to Torchwood after I catch up. This is great news though!
Doesnt Rory have to be killed by River?
I expect Amy and Rory to move on – as new parents it’s time.
14 episodes and Matt Smith. . . but on what show?!
/starts fake rumors
Maybe with Regenerated older Melody Pond as a companion 🙂
Just Saying – No Evidence.

I had to look this up because I remembered hearing it but couldn’t recall if I’d actually just dreamed it:

According to a number of sites around this same time, Matt Smith signed on for a three year contract with the option of an additional two. And, damn it, if the man hasn’t grown on me and I’d be glad if he took the full five.
Yeah, I heard rumors Karen and Arthur could be leaving – and it would make sense in a way…
After marrying comes settling down in TV Land
but no Amy and Rory? Professional Speculators have foretold that they are leaving at the end of this series.
