DCâs Legends of Tomorrow will unite a team of heroes and villains in a time travel adventure to take down the immortal Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) before he can conquer the world in the future. But Vandal Savage wonât be the only immortal appearing on the series, as Matt Nable is reportedly set to reprise his role as Ra’s al Ghul in the ninth episode of the series.
Nable previously recurred as Ra’s al Ghul throughout the third season of Arrow, also on The CW. If for some reason youâre not current with Arrow, consider this your spoiler warning about Ra’s al Ghul’s current status and skip the next two paragraphs of the post!
Knowing that Nable’s Ra’s he lost a battle to the death with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) at the end of Arrow season 3, it feels safe to assume his appearance in Legends of Tomorrow will likely take place in the past. Nable’s character previously hinted that he was not the first Ra’s al Ghul, and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) became the new Ra’s al Ghul when he assumed control of the League of Assassins.
Ra’s al Ghul does share a personal connection with Legend of Tomorrow‘s Sara Lance a.k.a. White Canary (Caity Lotz), though. In her backstory, Lance joined the League of Assassins and became the lover of al Ghulâs daughter, Nyssa (Katrina). It’s possible that Nable’s guest appearance could be flashbacks to this time in Lance’s life.
Another possibility is that Legends of Tomorrow could explore Ra’s al Ghul’s rivalry with Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). McDonough was recently confirmed as a Legends of Tomorrow guest star, and he has never previously appeared onscreen with Nable despite the intense hatred between their characters.
DCâs Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on January 21, 2016.
