The wait for #HunttheTruth is almost over, folks. We are a couple weeks away from having our hands on Halo 5: Guardians. Microsoft has done an excellent job of hyping the game, and highlighting the upcoming story with all of the recent live-action trailers. We got another look at Spartan Locke on his seemingly impossible mission to hunt down the beloved Master Chief. This time, however, the trailer features actual gameplay. You can watch the hype inducing “Launch Gameplay Trailer” above.
Since recent ads revealed plenty of the game, we know how high the stakes are for Spartan Locke and his squad. Hunting down the Chief doesn’t look like a task for the feint of heart. There’s a good mix of cutscene and gameplay footage in the video, and Muse’s “Knights of Cydonia” also makes it more enjoyable. There’s one thing that stood out to me though: towards the end of the video it says “Experience the beginning of the greatest hunt in gaming history”. No, the use of hyperbole isn’t what caught me, but the way it’s worded makes it sound like we won’t have closure to this hunt by the end of the game. Obviously, this is only speculation on my end, but it’s admittedly a bit strange.
That said, some folks have already received their copy of Halo 5 and are spoiling the end of the campaign, so you might want to stay off the web for a while. Be on the lookout for our spoiler free review of the game in the coming weeks.
