MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA Pushed Back, Launches Early 2017

According to EA CFO Blake Jorgenson, Mass Effect: Andromeda will be releasing some time in early 2017.

Back in January, we reported that the next entries in the Battlefield, Titanfall, and Mass Effect series would be releasing during the second half of EA’s fiscal year (anywhere between October 2016 and March 2017). Though we had already speculated that we probably wouldn’t be seeing Mass Effect: Andromeda until the latter half of that timeline, our thoughts were confirmed when Jorgenson revealed more information during Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Media & Telecom Conference (documented on NeoGAF).

“We’ve got a great year ahead,” Jorgensen stated. “We’ve got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it’s called Titanfall, it’s the second title that they brought into that brand. Both of these are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driver shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter. We have our Mirror’s Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited.”

Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effec:t Andromedaoriginally revealed during EA’s E3 press conference last year–was slated to release holiday 2016. Aside from the teaser they released on N7 Day (consisting of archival space footage and no gameplay), Bioware has revealed next to nothing about the game. Based on previous remarks made by the developer, we know Andromeda will be taking place “far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy,” but that’s about it. Considering the lack of information, a delay was almost inevitable.

Also, from the sound of Jorgenson’s remarks about Respawn’s upcoming title, it looks like we’ll be seeing Titanfall 2which will reportedly add a single player campaign–during Q3 2016. That means we might be preparing for Titanfall by the end of this year!
