MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA Due Out Winter 2016

Our adventures with Commander Shepard ended on the Citadel in 2013 (or did they!? They did. Probably), but that never meant the brilliant sci-fi series Mass Effect would suffer the same fate. Today, publisher BioWare released its first cinematic trailer for its next Mass Effect game, Mass Effect: Andromeda, slated for release holiday 2016.

Mass Effect: Andromeda takes place in another galaxy — Andromeda is the closest galaxy to our own Milky Way (the first series’ setting), which we’ll collide with in a few billion years — long after Shepard’s adventures. Though the location and timeline has changed, the core elements of the series look intact. In the trailer above there’s a Mako, an omni-tool, a galaxy map, an iconic ME pistol, and even N7 armor (!).

According to BioWare, “You’ll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with.”

Does the N7 armor mean that travel by mass effect relay advanced to the point of inter-galactic travel? That would open up the universe! But weren’t all the relays destroyed? What does it all mean!?

Can you hear the lovely galaxy space map music? I can. Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming holiday 2016 to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Head over to BioWare’s blog for all the details.
