Mashup Mondays: Duran Duran Vs. Bruno Mars, ‘Notorious Funk’

Sure it is the beginning of the week, but that doesn’t mean that you need to get all mopey and buy a Garfield poster to accurately express your disdain (or your alarming affinity for lasagna). We’ve got the perfect panacea with another edition of Mashup Mondays, where we inject a little bit of spontaneous bump’n and grindin’ into the beginning of your work week.

Today we’ve got the Soul Train-esque funk of Mark Ronson’s Bruno Mars-featuring “Uptown Funk” mashed up with Duran Duran’s groovy new wave hit, “Notorious”. Though that sounds like it should be jarring and strange, both songs draw heavily from the same viscid pool of electric funk and complement each other nearly perfectly. Granted, this would have been a strange addition to Donnie Darko, I think Sparkle Motion could have really expanded their choreographic boundaries with “Notorious Funk”, but that is purely inane conjecture.

Check out the track below and let us know if you have any mashup recommendations in the comment and on Twitter! We’ll see you next Monday with another dance floor dive inducing mashup jam.

Of course, Mark Ronson is a huge Duran Fan so the influence is definitely there. Love it.
